As the sacred month of Ramadan begins alongside the Christian Lenten season, the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims and Christians throughout the council area, urging them to embrace the season with prayers, unity, and a renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.
In a goodwill message Made available to the Public on Wednesday morning through his Chief Media Aide, Ogundipe Miracle, Hon Akinwole Akinleye congratulated Muslim faithful on the commencement of Ramadan, describing it as a holy period devoted to reflection, discipline, spiritual growth, and acts of kindness. He noted that Ramadan presents a unique opportunity for believers to strengthen their relationship with Allah, cultivate patience, and demonstrate compassion to humanity, especially the less privileged in society.
Hon. Akinleye also conveyed warm wishes to Christian faithful observing the Lenten season, emphasizing that Lent equally represents a solemn period of sacrifice, repentance, prayer, and deeper devotion to God.
He remarked that the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and Lent this year serves as a powerful symbol of the shared values that bind both faiths — love, humility, selflessness, tolerance, and care for one another.
“I pray that this sacred season ushers in abundant blessings, lasting peace, and prosperity to every household in Akinyele Local Government. May the fasting and supplications of our Muslim brothers and sisters be accepted, and may the sacrifices and prayers of our Christian brethren bring divine grace and spiritual renewal,” Hon Akinwole Akinleye stated.
He further encouraged residents to take advantage of this holy period to pray earnestly for peace, unity, and sustainable development in Akinyele Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole. Hon. Akinleye also called on citizens to strengthen communal harmony, extend support to the vulnerable, and uphold the enduring spirit of togetherness that defines the people of Akinyele Local Government.
The statement concluded with prayers for continued religious harmony across the local government and divine wisdom for leaders and citizens as they work collectively towards progress and prosperity.
